What is style?

Style generally means 'a distinctive appearance according to a set of principles by which something is designed'. Take a person’s style of dress for example. Their distinctive appearance is made up of several elements  garment/s, fabric/s, pattern, jewellery, make-up, hairstyle and more. The person makes choices according to their purpose - to stand out, to impress, to fit in, simply to keep warm or cool, to work out, etc.
